Eligibility Criteria for Google Summer Internship
- Applicants must meet the following Google Summer Internship criteria:
- Required Languages: English
- Eligible Countries: All world countries
- Be enrolled or admitted to a post-secondary educational program, including a college, university, master’s degree, doctoral program, graduate program, accredited programming school, or similar type of program, beginning May 17, 2022. Program from December 1, 2021 to May 17, 2022.
- You must be eligible to work in the country where you will reside during the program.
- You have not been accepted as a GOC student twice or more.
- You must reside in a country not currently subject to a US embargo.

How does Google Summer Internship work?
Students
Students contact the mentoring organizations they would like to work with and write a project proposal for the summer.
If accepted, students will spend a month on board their organization before starting to code. Students then have three months to program while respecting the deadlines agreed upon with their tutors.
Organizations
Open-source projects require mentor status.
Once accepted, the organizations discuss possible ideas with the students and then decide what suggestions they would like to come up with for the summer. They provide mentors to help each student progress through the program.
Mentors
Current employees of the organization may choose to sponsor a student project. Mentors and students work together to set appropriate goals and requirements for the summer. Interaction with the mentor is an essential part of the program.
